National Farm Survey 2006 - AAA Package
The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE), was engaged by the Rural Policy and Innovation Division of DAFF to undertake a National Farmer Survey to collect information on the awareness and uptake of key elements of the AAA package and other relevant DAFF programs, such as Exceptional Circumstances assistance. The AAA elements which are the focus of this report are FarmBis, the Rural Financial Counselling Service, Farm Help, and the Farm Management Deposits Scheme.
For this survey a sample of 2000 farms nationwide was selected. The survey targeted farms with an estimated value of agricultural operations (EVAO) of $22,500 or more. The industries surveyed were: crops, mixed crops–livestock, sheep, beef, mixed sheep–beef, vegetables, fruit, sugar, cotton and wine grapes.
The ABARE National Farmer Survey 2006 was utilised as one input into the development of the next version of the Australian Government’s Agriculture Advancing Australia Policy Package.
