APVMA Advisory Board
Applications for the Advisory Board closed on 20 February 2012.
The Advisory Board is selected and appointed by the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and provides advice and makes recommendations to the CEO of the APVMA on its functions.
Experience and qualifications
The eight Board members will need experience in one or more of the following areas:
- regulation of chemical products under the law of a state or territory
- the agricultural chemical industry
- the veterinary chemical industry
- the protection of the interests of consumers
- primary production
- public health and occupational health and safety
- environmental toxicology
Applicants should nominate one of the areas of expertise listed above and provide details of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, referees and contact information that relates to that area.
Appointment period
The Advisory Board and Chair are expected to be appointed in July 2012 for a term of up to three years.
Remuneration
Members will be required to work up to 12 days a year (16 days for the Chair), including attending three meetings a year in Canberra. The positions will be paid ($661 per day for Members, and $22,770 a year for the Chair) as set by the Remuneration Tribunal. Travel allowance will be additionally supplied.
About the APVMA
The APVMA is an Australian Government statutory authority responsible for assessing and registering all agricultural and veterinary chemical products, up to and including the point of retail sale. The Advisory Board is established under the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Administration) Act 1992.
About the role of the Advisory Board
The APVMA Advisory Board makes a valuable contribution to the operation of the APVMA and in particular the changes resulting from the current agricultural and veterinary chemicals reforms.
